Chunxiu Yu

Research Scientist
Deep Brain Stimulation

Chunxiu Yu graduated from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel with doctoral degree in Neurobiology. She is a research scientist in the Department of Biomedical Engineering working with Dr. Warren Grill. Her work in Dr. Grill’s laboratory mainly focuses on optogenetic dissection of deep brain stimulation (DBS) in rat model of Parkinson's disease (PD). The long term goal of her work is to understand the circuit mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of DBS for PD using a combination of electrophysiology, anatomy, optogenetics and behavior. Besides working with Dr. Grill, Chunxiu works with Dr. Jonathan Viventi’s group focusing on examining the long-term recording stability of chronically implanted micro-electrocorticography (µECoG) arrays in freely-moving animals. Outside of work, Chunxiu enjoys being with her lovely daughters and making Chinese paper-cuts.
